JOBS IN DEMAND

  • 300,000 additional jobs will be created in the tourism industry (Projected by SLTDA).
  • 400,000 jobs will be available in the construction industry (Projected by Construction Industry Chamber).

LACK OF SKILLED LABOUR

  • A mismatch of skills is evident as there is a large gap between the availability of skilled labour and the requirement of skilled labour in the current labour market.
  • Over 250,000 youth are currently unemployed (Labour Force Survey, 2016).

ENABLING THE SUPPLY OF SKILLED LABOUR

  • 1.5 million persons have been trained by both the public and private sector with industry-relevant and marketable skills through vocational training (GDST).
  • 66% of women in the working age are not in the workforce

YouLead works with private and public partners to help create a future where youth are empowered with industry relevant skills in a competitive economy.
